Here’s my cousin’s birthday cake! I had so much fun making this, and it really helped dealing with the rebound in my depression. The bunting took ~6 hours to make from rolling and cutting the first row of flags, to painting the detail on the last string of bunting. I spent roughly 10/11 hours decorating the entire thing.

I don’t like writing messages on cake.

Really, I don’t. Being left-handed and having a whole load of eye issues which make writing neatly really difficult aside, I generally just feel like cakes without writing on them are boring and messy. There are more fun ways to SHOW the occasion.

But yeah… I don’t like the writing on this. I don’t like how that came out. (the fact that I ran out of silver dust and had to make my own with blue/red/yellow dye and white glitter dust to colour the text only heightens this, I think.) I also don’t like the fact that I couldn’t use any colour on this. Ther than that, but hey… There’s going to be lots of colour on the cake I’m making tomorrow, and the finished product looks a damn sight better than the image I was given to work with, so it’s all good… I’m going to stop complaining about the bits I didn’t like, because I’d like to have YOUR feedback on what you think of it. :)

I made these for my aunt’s birthday. She’s like my biggest fan, so it only seemed fair to make her something she’d be able to keep. The cupcakes were honey and orange flavoured (and damn that’s a good combination) and I haven’t slept in over 30 hours because I had to stay up to finish them.

Personally, I’m not a fan of care bears. They’re creepy.

Part two of the birthday cupcakes! I’d REALLY wanted to make cupcakes with anti-possession tattoos, too, but I didn’t have the time to try and figure out the logistics of them (well, I spent 2 hours getting frustrated that the fondant wasn’t doing what I wanted it to, and gave up. Same difference though, right?)

I mostly wanted to practice with painting on fondant, as I don’t really get the chance to do it. I’d love to know what you guys think of it! (And yes, my handwriting sucks. It’s one of the many disadvantages of being a Lefty.)

So, I remade the TARDIS cupcakes which I made last year. I’m really impressed with my progress, even though I still like the overall look of the cupcakes the first time round.

I guess it’s kind of like when they re-make a classic movie. The revamp is awesome and has better technology to make it look damn cool, but it’s never really going to live up to or surpass the feeling and success of the original.

You know what would be cool? If you added your own thoughts to this. What do you think of the new ones? Which do you prefer? If I were to continue this, and made them AGAIN next year, what could I do to make them the absolute most awesome TARDIS cakes there have ever been? Come on, I’m a drama student, I can take your thoughts on this.

(For my sanity, I haven’t edited all of these individually. I’ve only had four hours sleep in the last 48 hours, so you can just enjoy the mush of photos which I put together to upload to other sites, and one larger photo to marvel at how pretty they all are.)

Okay! So! My cousin turned 12 today, and she’s obsessed with One Direction. Specifically: Niall. So… I decided this cake was necessary. It looks awesome. I accidentally knocked off some of Niall’s and Harry’s hairs, and I don’t think the angle does Liam and Louis any justice - but trust me, they REALLY looked a lot like them.

So, Directioners… Enjoy. I hope I’ve not screwed up your favourite Boy’s face too much.

Last year, one of my neighbours was involved in a plane crash. His injuries were horrendous, but his recovery is beyond amazing. Recently, his sister asked me if I’d make some cupcakes to give to the Burns unit as a thank you for their efforts.

These are a variety of chocolate, vanilla, and red velvet cupcakes.
