I’d completely forgotten to upload this! This is my cousin, TIlly’s birthday cake. She’d wanted a Care Bear on her cake - just so she could eat it. She’d been threatening to eat her mum’s Cheer Bear figure ever since I made it, so I figured ‘hey, why not go one better? Why not make the WHOLE cake a care bear?!’ and that was possibly the best decision I could have made, because she absolutely adored it.
At her request, the cake was strawberry sponge, with chocolate buttercream.
Also, the ‘real’ bears: the scruffy Cheer Bear was recently re-discovered in our attic. It’s 30 years old and belonged to my aunt when she was little. The other Bear (who’s name I don’t know) is one of Tilly’s teddies.
Mel made me realise this info was probably more relevant than the ages of the teddies:
The head and body were treated like a two tier cake, in terms of supporting it, then were just carved into shape. The arms and legs are rice krispy treats moulded into shape and covered in fondant. The party hat is a new sheet of glossy photo paper, curled and cut into a cone and decorated with the fondant. Simple!
